E3: Nintendo goes out of turn, announces enhanced Wii controller
LOS ANGELES — With Microsoft’s press conference about to begin, Nintendo is theft some thunder with an announcement of its own.
Nintendo announced a “Wii MotionPlus” same as accessary for the simple, motion-sensing Wii Remote — the make that distinguishes Nintendo’s console from the competition.
From a brief Nintendo statement:
The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor cross-piece, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of accuracy and immersion. Every slight change players find with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in absolute time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus confederate. reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games clear and accessible for everyone.
The concourse promised more details at its own press conference Tuesday morning. But its pre-announcement this morning suggests Nintendo thinks Microsoft is going to bring in some kind of motion-sensing controller. Nintendo convenient wanted to reach out against us, and show the hundreds of game industry reporters here that it’s now on its second reiteration motion controller.
